April 2013 will bring the tenth anniversary of the death through Ovarian Cancer of my wife Denise. In tribute to her, to help raise awareness of this disease and in aid of Ovarian Cancer Action I am going to walk The Cumbria Coastal Way over a period of fourteen consecutive days in April. This walk can be best described as Scotland to Lancashire along the edge. By the time I arrive home I shall have walked something like 195 miles. During our life together Denise and I used to enjoy walking the Lake District fells with our friends and together when on holiday in Austria and The Italian Lakes. I can think of no better activity to mark her memory and hopefully raise a little sum to help this worthy charity. If you would like to support my endeavours please either donate to this fund or alternatively via the donations page I have set up on the MyDonate website; the link is; https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/blackbirdwalk I shall also be creating a Facebook page which I hope to update regularly during the walk with photographs and any interesting anecdotes about it and the people I meet along the way. A few days after I complete this walk will be Denise's birthday and I hope that, through the work of research done by Ovarian Cancer Action with your support, a lot more women and their partners will be able to celebrate their birthdays together. Thank you. Malcolm G Heyes
